1973 Polaris Starfire 440: This 440cc triple cylinder free air TX Starfire was discovered in Bay City, MI. The gas tank was modified for endure racing and the machine has the rubber endure track.
The 1973 TX Starfire came in four free air Starflame Fuji engine sizes: twin cylinder 295 (294cc), 340 (335cc) models and the triple cylinder 440 (439cc) and 650 (649cc) models. A few special 800cc kits were available to modify the 650 engines. All engines were CDI ignitions.
This machine also used the light weight Equaliberator slide-rail suspension, has hydraulic disc brakes, all aluminum welded chassis, CDI ignition, and has a quick change front drive shaft. Two tracks were available; the standard cleated 15" track and an all rubber track for endure racing.
The 1973 TX Starfire is still popular today in vintage racing.
